WOR EVENTS NHS WILCARD HARE SCRAMBLE QUADS
JULY 2017 @ MAESHAFN
Report: K. Williams.
“The National Hare Scrambles series for quads has now had 5 rounds and the all-important Wildcard round take place with a cracking 2.5hr race last weekend at WOR Events superb MAESHAFN track in Mold near Chester. The Track had been extensively graded and repaired from previous events and was in top condition. The weather was also kind too with sunny skies and nice temperatures for the riders.
The Wildcard is a real bonus for the riders that are committed to the championship, they can use the event in two ways, one is use it as a replacement round for one they might have missed or secondly they can use it to replace a round they may have scored less points in, all in all it really helped out some riders as they improved their championship tally’s by taking part.
John Robson was the stand out rider again as he was the previous week with a superb performance on his 450 Suzuki 2wd. John dominated from start to finish but was never too far ahead of the hard charging 4x4 Expert, Jason Wildman (POLARIS) . Endaf Owen scored some very valuable series points in 2nd place 4x4 Expert as did Tudor Roberts in the 2wd Experts.
Derek Burns (Can-Am) was top 4x4 Clubman with a very neat, stand out ride. Burns had to see off the challenge of young Joe Bacon whom was going well on his Polaris 1000 until an untimely roll over cost him time and pushed him to 3rd spot with Neil Martin as consistent as ever to sneak in and grab the silver award in class.
Alex Trowler did his championship position no harm at all with superb win in the 2wd Clubman class from Nigel Morris and Leon Dean in 2nd and 3rd place respectively. The top 2 doing 14 laps and Dean completing 13 laps.
A great atmosphere and a nice awards presentation at the end of the race rounded off the day superbly as the quad riders made their way home knowing they had just taken part in a cracking event.
The next round for quads of the NHS is on Saturday 13th August at the clubs massive Clatter mountain track in mid wales.”
